Karrupu Konda Kadalai Kolambu !! Chickpea stew

This is a day to day kolambu made with chickpea an easy one to make and believe me, you can be a great cook making this simple dish..

Here goes that fantastic kolambu recipe


Preparation time  : 20 min ; serves : 4 people

Ingredients:
Black chickpea - 1 cup (soak over-nite and steam with salt, keep it aside)
Tamarind - a big lemon sized ball
Salt - 2 tsp or to taste
Turmeric powder - pinch
Chilly coriander powder - 1 and 1/2 spoon
Kolambu thool (available in market) - 1 spoon
Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
Onions - 2 medium
Tomato - 4 small sized

Season:
Oil - 4 -5 tsp 
Black mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 3/4 tsp
Channa Dal  - 3/4 tsp
Red chillies (dry) - 2 nos.
Jeera - 1 spoon
Fenugreek -  1/2 spoon
 
Hing / Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - a few
 
Process:
 
Heat  oil in a kadai, once hot, add the season items and fry till its brown

Now add onions and fry till it changes its color 

Now add turmeric powder, chilly coriander powder, kolambu thool and fry well

Once done add tomatoes and cook for a min

Now add the tamarind water (tamarind can be soaked in the boiled chickpea water which will add taste to the kolambu) and also the black chickpea

Cook for 10 min and add the cocunut milk in the last

Cook for another 5 min and serve with rice and appalam
